Help a Chechen refugee family in Massachusetts

Marzet and granddaughter Saida Group 133 provides assistance to the Imakaev family, who have relocated to the Boston area recently after the "disappearance" of the father and eldest son of the family.

Help is provided with practical issues such as housing and income. Furthermore, group 133 joins the Imakaev family in their search for their disappeared family members, and in their quest for information from the Russian authorities regarding their disappearance. We are planning a postcard campaign which will ask the Russian authorities to investigate this case.

Please consider financially supporting the Imakaev family and their fight for justice. For credit card donations please refer to Communityroom.net. Additional information, including instructions for donating by check, can be found here.

Download and collect signatures on this petition for the Imakaev case.

The Russia Action Team of Group 133 is currently focusing on women's rights in Russia, the conflict in Chechnya, and human rights education.

Since September of 2002, our group has:

  • Organized a demonstration at the Russian Consulate in New York City to call attention to continued "disappearances" in Chechnya (April 2003)
  • Coordinated a speaking tour for Chechen human rights activists Eliza Moussaeva and Bela Tsugaeva (April 2003)
  • Sponsored a trip to Russia by group member Ann Corbett to explore the possibility of creating an internship program with Memorial and Amnesty International Moscow (September 2003)
