Ann Corbett's Trip to Russia
September 2003
After organizing a successful speaking tour by Eliza Moussaeva and Bela Tsugaeva in April, the members of Group 133's Russia Action Team decided to find new ways to help Memorial with their work documenting the human rights situation in Chechnya and of Chechen refugees in Ingushetia. A member of our team, Ann Corbett, traveled to Russia to talk to Memorial and Amnesty International Moscow about ways to support human rights groups in Russia and to explore creating an internship program to send US volunteers to Russia. Ann visited St. Petersburg, Moscow, and Nazran in September 2003.
