Ann Corbett's Trip to Russia

September 2003

Nazran :: Memorial

Ann was impressed by the work of the Memorial Nazran office. Photos documenting the human cost of the war in Chechnya cover the walls and Eliza Moussaeva, the director, explained how Memorial helps refugees obtain legal assistance and medical care as well as documenting human rights violations in Chechnya.

Memorial Nazran could use help in obtaining a professional still camera and instruction for its staff in professional quality photographic techniques. Local staff would like the opportunity to learn English, either in Russia or in the United States.
