Mr. Kofi Annan
Secretary General
United Nations
New York, NY 10017

Your Excellency,

I am writing to express my concern about the ongoing pattern of human rights violations taking place in Tibet, and to urge the United Nations to resume debate on the question of Tibet.

Recent events have drawn the world's attention once more to conditions in Tibet, which have prompted an outcry from Tibetans both within and outside Tibet, as well as others around the world. I am bringing this matter to your attention to urge you to take notice of the six million Tibetans living inside and outside of Tibet. It is imperative that their situation be publicly acknowledged by the UN, so that their suffering may not be in vain.

I believe that the basic human rights of the Tibetan people, as defined the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and in the International Bill of Human Rights, must be defended and supported by the General Assembly and the Secretary General's Office.

Respectfully,
[your name and address]
