Who ‘Got on the Bus’

Get on The Bus III was populated with people from all walks of life. There students and teachers, businesspeople and unemployed, and people of more than 10 different nationalities/ethnicities.

On this trip many felt blessed to have Ani Tendol, a Tibetan Buddhist nun, and Camille, one of the many Chinese students that was in Tianamen Square in the spring of 1989. We were also joined by friends far and wide. Jim Bullington, a short time Roxbury resident and 133 member, gave his heart and lungs for each and every protest. Former Group Boston University member Lisa Bell, now an employee of UNICEF, caught us minutes before boarding the bus back to Boston. Lesley, a staffer at Reebok Award Winners chanted and I think gave a few interviews at the Chinese Consulate. Tashi Rabgey, Harvard University Tibetologist and Kasang, a former Buddhist monk and attendant to the Dalai Lama put in their 16 hours on the trip. Tashi made several impromptu speeches, went in to the Chinese Consulate and did several interviews.

One of the great things was to see Tibetans and Chinese people demonstrating outside the Nigerian Consulate for human rights in Nigeria.
