Separation Techniques

Complex Spot

If the image to be printed has a wider range of colors than the available number of print heads halftones will be used to make secondary or tertiary colors. Half tones can also be used to create tints of existing colors. Determining the percentages needed to create the secondary colors is a process that requires a complete understanding of the printing process and good intuitive skills. There is at present no way to accurately simulate this on press ink mixing. These secondary colors often must be compromises that fit into the palette to be used. On colored garments halftones can often be used to mix the inks with the color of the garment.
